Obert is an accomplished researcher specialising in migration, adult social care, and family dynamics, with a particular focus on amplifying the voices of seldom heard, disadvantaged, and excluded communities. Holding a PhD in Social Policy and Sociology, Obert brings a critical, intersectional lens to their work, emphasizing co-production and participatory approaches that centre lived experience.
Currently serving as a Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham, Obert leads and contributes to studies that bridge academic rigor with real-world impact. His research explores the intersections of care labour, transnational families, and systemic inequalities. Alongside this role, Obert is a Project Officer for IMPACT, the UK’s centre for implementing evidence in adult social care, where they translate research into practice to improve policy and service delivery.
As a Trustee of PVM committed to addressing structural inequities, Obert is an active member of the Systemic Racism Subgroup, advocating for anti-racist methodologies in research and policy.
