Stories - whether visual, written or spoken - are important learning tools. They help us to make sense of our world, understand different perspectives, and provide nuanced insights into social issues. We believe that people’s authentic stories can play a vital role in helping society address the challenges it faces and tackle deep-rooted inequalities.People’s Voice Media are on a mission to use lived experience to inform services, research, and policy, and to change institutions, systems, and society for the better. We want to create a just world in which people’s lived experience is heard, valued, and has influence.
“Working with People’s Voice Media, we have been using stories to generate insight on ethnic minority communities’ experiences of cancer. This has been challenging but the support and training we have had from People’s Voice Media has enabled us to develop an initial understanding of the challenges people from ethnic minorities tend to face in accessing screening and getting an early diagnosis. Training was provided to support Social Prescribers and Cancer Care Coordinators to use this approach to use their own networks to enhance the reach of the project. The facilitation of training sessions was excellent and was a positive experience for all. The support provided to the Project Coordinator throughout has been invaluable and consistently reliable.”
"We have really valued working with People’s Voice Media over the last few years. The methodology of Community Reporting has transformed our approach to ethical storytelling, and centering lived and living experiences in our work - ensuring that these have the impact that they deserve. The guidance, advice and training from People’s Voice Media has been invaluable. We have appreciated their open, friendly and accessible approach; and the way that they support and encourage learning as a movement."
“The collaboration between Disability Rights UK and People’s Voice Media was seamless, underpinned by shared values of equality, respect, and inclusion. Their team brought expertise, sensitivity, and a deep understanding of ethical storytelling. This ensured that each contributor felt supported and empowered to share their story in their own voice. As the Covid-19 Inquiry continues, the stories captured remain central to our work. We are proud to see these narratives live on through People’s Voice Media’s ongoing efforts, ensuring that the voices of Disabled people continue to drive change long after the pandemic.”
“Our experience with People’s Voice Media at The Bronte has been fantastic. Together, we've delivered a series of workshops aimed at developing skills, confidence, and an interest in community reporting among our young people. Over the weeks, these goals have been achieved, and our young people even had the opportunity to interview local community members, and it was amazing to see our young people have the confidence and enthusiasm to test out their skills gained from these sessions. They loved being out in the community, engaging and interacting with the users, old members, trustees and staff of our centre. We're all eager to see the final outcome."
“Working with the People’s Voice Media team has a profound impact on the work of Co-Production Collective. Community Reporting has brought life to our anti-racism work, work that sits at the heart of our reason for being. Working with the team has helped us to better understand the horrific challenges faced daily by many of our community and is helping us to put building blocks in place for the future as we grow and develop ourselves as a community and support others to do the same. We have also worked with the team to use the Community Reporting methodology to help us evaluate the ‘Measuring what Success looks like in co-production’ programme of work - to unpick what was working within the project and areas where improvements were needed. This independent support helped the team to be reflexive, to stop and think and to work on challenges they were facing and to improve their ways of working together.”
“We have worked alongside People’s Voice Media over the last seven years on a number of different projects. They are our go-to partner when we need to bring community reporting into the work and we have always been inspired by the depth of knowledge and expertise they bring to the table when it comes to working alongside people with lived and living experience. Their ability to bring stories to the fore-front and enable people to truly listen to them and work with them provides a unique dynamic that helps to shift the way staff in the health and social sector view the people they support and often leads to a more open, transparent and co-productive way of working.”
“Curators of Change Collective have been a longtime friend and collaborator of People’s Voice Media for many reasons. Their ethics and values align deeply with our own, making every partnership feel both meaningful and impactful. We firmly believe in the power of lived experience and storytelling to drive real change, and People’s Voice Media embodies this approach with authenticity and dedication. Their Community Reporting methodology is not only sound but transformative - ensuring that voices often unheard are amplified in ways that truly matter. Working alongside People's Voice Media has been both a pleasure and a privilege. They may be a small organisation, but they consistently punch above their weight, demonstrating a remarkable commitment to centring individual stories as a catalyst for collective change. We look forward to continuing this journey together, growing and evolving as we champion the power of lived experience to reshape our world.”
