Sector: Public Sector, Community Development

Overview:
To assess the impact that the funding and accompanying support has had on grantee organisations and the communities they serve, we used two qualitative research methods: Community Reporting and Ripple Effect Mapping, in tandem. For the Community Reporting arm of the project, local residents who had been involved in the decision-making process for the funding were trained as Community Reporters, to undertake in-depth dialogue interviews with representatives of the grantee organisations. For the Ripple Effect Mapping, we ran a series of interactive workshops with the grantee organisations to gather data about the impacts, outcomes and challenges that have come with receiving the funding.
The final output will be a report, which captures in detail the impact of the capital works and its effects on the resilience of the VCSE sector in Bristol and makes recommendations both for the next steps for supporting community infrastructure and for similar or future funding schemes. The project has also embedded new skills among residents in Bristol and members of the Community Resources Team at Bristol City Council.
