Lauren is an experienced writer, facilitator, project manager, evaluator and researcher who has been working in community- and activism-focused roles for over a decade. She has a background in academia, but wanted to use her skills to create change in an unjust world.
Her facilitation skills began in voluntary roles with Film Club, and in the university seminar room where she taught undergraduate students at Warwick and Reading. She has particular expertise in facilitating sessions with young people from her work with climate and activism charity People & Planet and working in Widening Participation. Facilitation training from Seeds for Change and global education training at Reading International Solidarity Centre has greatly informed her practice in this area and she still uses techniques learnt there as part of her work. She holds a PhD from the University of Warwick.
Lauren is responsible for our external communications, managing our social media feeds, writing our newsletter and co-ordinating the People’s Voice Media blog. As Community Engagement Manager, she looks after our network of Community Reporters, designing events, training and support to help strengthen and amplify the work that people are doing with lived experience storytelling. Lauren facilitates in-person and online sessions, workshops and trainings on our UK and European education, research and community development projects. Lauren has been a member of the PVM team for over 9 years as both a freelancer and part of the core team.
