What does wellbeing mean to you? What stops you from being well? What keeps you healthy? What has your experience of the COVID-19 pandemic been? In Calderdale and nationally we know that coronavirus has further exacerbated existing health inequalities. This project will develop meaningful collaborative and community led approaches that address such health inequalities in the communities most affected by the pandemic. Over an 18-month period, the project will use lived experience as a tool to co-produce and co-evaluate 4 health interventions in communities in north and central Calderdale.  The project is run by a consortium led by VAC.

Our Role

People’s Voice Media are delivering Community Reporting training in Calderdale that focuses on gathering stories about what keeps people well and what stops them from being well. There is a specific focus on working with BAME communities as existing research has shown that socio-economical factors that already impacted on these communities’ health have been made worse during the pandemic. The stories will be used to capture the impact of Covid-19 on people in Calderdale and the Community Reporters will take the learnings in the stories and use these to produce recommendations for the health interventions that will be commissioned in latter stages of the project.
