Working with the CQC, Ideas Alliance, Curators of Change and People’s Voice Media are gathering insight into people’s experiences of Closed Cultures. A closed culture is a poor culture in a health or care service that increases the risk of harm. This includes abuse and human rights breaches. The project aims to find out what can be done to combat and prevent Closed Cultures and improve people’s lives and experiences of services.

Our Role

To better understand ‘closed cultures’, People’s Voice Media are wanting to hear people’s stories about their experiences of Closed Cultures and working with a team of Community Reporters we are doing one-to-one dialogue interviews with people with direct experiences of Closed Cultures and family members, carers or friends who support people who have experienced a closed culture or who could be easily find themselves in a closed culture. We are also delivering training to family members, carers or friends who support people with communication needs, to use Community Reporting to capture the ‘voice’ of the people they support in varied ways.
