Training Programmes
We offer a variety of training courses on ICT and Social Media. Courses can be 1/2 days, full days, 3 days or 12 days in length and are tailored to meet you needs.

Basic ICT
This is usually delivered over ten weeks, with sessions lasting two hours. The course covers the very basics of computing (from identifying the different parts of a computer, switching on and off and launching and closing programmes) to word processing, spreadsheets and mailmerge as well as sessions on searching for information online and using email. These sessions are targeted at people with no previous experience of using computers and have been delivered in partnership with community associations, sheltered housing schemes, residents groups and job clubs. The sessions give people confidence in using a computer and wanting to develop their skills. Further I.T. sessions can be developed tailored to the specific needs of the group.
Producing a newsletter (content)
This session can be delivered over six three hour sessions. This would cover the basics of story writing, interview techniques and digital photography. Learners would develop the skills to produce content for their local community newsletter. This can be embedded as part of the course. People's Voice Media has worked with the Charlestown and Lower Kersal Development Framework Group to train local residents to produce content for Essence, a local newsletter delivered to over three thousand homes in east Salford.
Producing a newsletter (Desk Top Publishing)
This course can be run alongside the content session (above) or as a standalone programme. A one day introduction would give learners an introduction to using a Desk Top Publishing programme to produce a print ready small four page newsletter/ magazine.
Digital Photography
A one day introductory session would cover the basics of telling a story using pictures, the different features and functions of a digital camera, planning and taking a photograph, importing and editing a picture and exporting the image in appropriate format.
Blogging
A one day session covering the popular blogging platform WordPress. The session will cover what a blog/ CMS (Content Management System) is, the difference between posts and pages, how to add text, images, links and embed videos on your blog and how to quickly and easily change the look of your blog.
Social Networks including Facebook, Twitter and Google+
People's Voice Media can deliver one day training sessions on a variety of social networks including Facebook, Twitter and Google+. You'll learn how to set up an account, how to find and "follow" people, how to post content including text, pictures and videos.
Film and Edit
Delivered over six half days this short course covers the whole process of making a film from initial idea to publishing finished film online. Learners agree a topic, create a pitch, draw up a storyboard, plan and shoot video, import video, edit video and save in appropriate format.
Producing a Video in a day
In this short one day course learners will get a taster of video by creating a short film. The session will cover brainstorming an idea, developing a storyboard, filming, basic editing and peer review.
eBooks
eBooks have become increasing popular with devices such as Amazon’s Kindle and Apple’s iPad allowing readers to store dozens of digital books on one device. In this one day course learners will find out how to create documents that can be read on these devices and how you can sell their work online.
