Aims and ethos
People's Voice Media is a not-for-profit social enterprise.
Through the use of social media we aim to give a voice to local communities, and to empower individuals and groups within those communities to promote and develop social and campaigning initiatives. Through the use of online social networking we aim to get people talking to each other, and bring communities closer together.
People’s Voice Media aim is to become the ‘Reuters of the community’ by providing local content and independent reporting - by communities for themselves and a wider audience.
People’s Voice Media is committed to:
- local community ownership
- principles of openness, transparency, diversity, and equality in all that it does
- developing the journalistic skills of local people, particularly those from hard-to-reach; and marginalised communities
- placing the citizen at the forefront of content creation and distribution
- ensuring that communities and individuals can have a voice that is heard
- sharing knowledge and skills in the production, delivery and marketing of content
- making full of use of open-source software and the Creative Commons licensing process
- support innovation and risk taking
- continually evaluating whether our enterprise is sustainable and accountable
